Laredo, Texas – A 27-year-old woman is fighting for her life at a San Antonio hospital after a tragic car crash early on January 1. The incident occurred at approximately 6 a.m. in the 3300 block of Lomas Del Sur and South Ejido.
According to the Laredo Police Department, a black car was traveling westbound on Lomas Del Sur when it collided with a pick-up truck heading south on South Ejido. The impact of the crash caused the front passenger of the black car, identified as Marisol Saucedo, to be thrown from the vehicle. Sadly, Saucedo was then struck by one of the involved vehicles, which police believe ran her over.
Saucedo was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition and later transferred to a hospital in San Antonio. Her current condition remains critical as she continues to receive medical care.
Authorities have arrested the driver of the pick-up truck, 27-year-old Cristian Daniel Valenciano, who was charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI). Additionally, the driver of the black car, 24-year-old Anissa Margarita Calderon, was also arrested and charged with driving under the influence (DUI).
The collision is under further investigation, with police working to determine the exact sequence of events that led to the crash and Saucedo’s injuries. No additional details have been released regarding the circumstances of the crash or the possible involvement of other factors such as speed or road conditions.
The community has been left shocked by the tragic accident, and law enforcement is urging anyone with further information about the crash to come forward.
As the investigation continues, local authorities are stressing the dangers of impaired driving and the severe consequences it can have on innocent lives. The Laredo Police Department has vowed to pursue justice for Saucedo and ensure that those responsible for the crash are held accountable.
