Marion County Grade School Invitational Track Meet to Benefit Kaskaskia College Cross Country Program

This year’s Annual Marion County Grade School Invitational Track Meet hosted by Franklin Park and Selmaville Grade Schools will help benefit the Kaskaskia College Cross Country Program this year.

Due to the Illinois budget crisis, the KC Cross Country teams will receive no funding for expenses for the 2016-17 season. The teams are needing to raise $15,000 for travel, fees, and other expenses. Athletes, parents, coaches and members of the community are currently engaged in a number of fundraising activities to assist these teams.

The KC Cross Country program has a proud history of commitment to the college and the community and teams and individual players have earned Academic All-American honors and had successful transfers to four-year institutions.

This year’s track meet will be held Saturday April 23 at Salem High School starting at 10:00 a.m. Admission will be charged at the gate for all spectators and the cost will be $2.00 per adult and $1.00 per student. Concessions will also be available during the entire meet.

The KC Program will also be hosting a Kaskaskia Mile for a $5.00 per entry or a donation to KC Program.

Events schedule at the annual track meet are boys and girls hurdles, 100 meter, 200 meter races, and 800 and 400 meter relays. Other events include pole vault, shot put, discus, long jump, and high jump.
