Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather found himself in a tense situation while shopping in London this week. The former champ was at Hatton Garden, a well-known jewelry district, when things took an unexpected turn. A crowd of angry people surrounded Mayweather and his entourage, reportedly upset over his vocal support for Israel.
Videos shared on social media show Mayweather walking through the street as the crowd grew louder and more agitated. His security team tried to shield him and get him into a black SUV, but the situation seemed chaotic, with people shouting and throwing insults.
According to reports, the confrontation started inside a store when someone questioned Mayweather about his support for Israel. Witnesses claimed Mayweather stood by his stance, which allegedly triggered someone in the crowd to take a swing at him.
A source told a media outlet that “Floyd took a few hits during it, but his security was trying to push people back.” However, Mayweather later denied this version of events entirely.
The boxing star addressed the incident on Instagram, saying, “Let me set the record straight… there’s no truth to the rumors going around. I wasn’t punched or touched in any way. What you’re seeing is just my security doing their job to keep things under control.”
He explained that he was in the UK for just two days to do some shopping and said the rumors were fueled by negativity and jealousy. “I’m perfectly fine, and there’s really nothing more to it,” he added.
The incident came just days after Mayweather announced the “Mayweather Israel Initiative,” a project to support orphans in Israel. He revealed plans to visit every orphan in Israel over the next year, delivering special birthday gifts through what he calls the “Floyd Mobile.”
“To all the widows and orphans: keep your heads held high as we honor the cherished memories of those who have passed,” he wrote on Instagram.
Mayweather, now 47, has been outspoken about his support for Israel. In October, he visited the country and met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In an emotional post, he praised Netanyahu’s leadership and expressed his admiration for the resilience of the Israeli people.
“This week in Israel has been deeply emotional for me,” Mayweather shared. “Visiting injured soldiers, meeting families of fallen heroes, and connecting with the people of Israel has been a humbling experience.”
It’s clear that Mayweather’s stance has sparked strong reactions, but he seems determined to continue using his platform to speak up for causes he believes in. For now, he’s safe and focused on moving forward with his plans.
