In a dramatic twist this holiday season, Rudy Giuliani, the former New York City mayor, fired back at claims he didn’t fully hand over his belongings after being hit with a jaw-dropping $148 million defamation verdict. The lawsuit, filed by former Georgia election workers Wandrea “Shay” Moss and Ruby Freeman, accuses Giuliani of spreading lies about their role in the 2020 presidential election.
In a spirited Christmas Eve court filing, Giuliani argued that Moss and Freeman haven’t technically followed the rules to claim his assets. According to him, they didn’t take the required legal oath, which, he claims, means they’re not officially allowed to act as receivers yet. “The process hasn’t even started properly,” Giuliani insisted.
To prove he’s cooperating, Giuliani pointed out he’s already handed over “everything he could,” including furniture, sports memorabilia, and even his Mercedes-Benz. “I went above and beyond what the court ordered,” he said in his 20-page filing. “I’m doing my best to follow the rules.”
However, Moss and Freeman’s attorneys claim Giuliani is dragging his feet and argue he hasn’t been truthful about what he’s handed over. The case now heads to a civil contempt hearing on January 3, where a federal judge will decide if Giuliani should face sanctions.
This latest chapter adds to Giuliani’s mounting legal woes, including challenges in finding lawyers to represent him. Stay tuned—this courtroom drama is far from over!
