Christians Speak Out Against Trump’s Immigration Plan: A Call for Compassion

Over 15,000 people have signed a petition started by Faithful America, a Christian group, urging President-elect Donald Trump to reconsider his immigration policies. The petition claims these policies violate Christian values, especially his promise of mass deportations and plans to allow ICE agents to arrest undocumented immigrants at places like churches.

Faithful America, which supports social justice and opposes white supremacy, is speaking out against these policies. They’re asking U.S. Catholic leaders to publicly reject Trump’s plan and stand up for immigrants. In a petition posted last week, they reminded the church that Jesus taught us to “welcome the stranger” and to care for the vulnerable.

Trump’s plan to rescind a rule that protects sensitive locations, like schools and churches, from ICE arrests is especially controversial. Many believe it’s inhumane to arrest immigrants in such sacred spaces.

Some Christian leaders, like Ben Marsh from First Alliance Church, are also speaking out. He argues that immigrants contribute positively to the economy and commit fewer crimes than native-born citizens. Meanwhile, Trump’s allies, like Speaker Mike Johnson, continue to defend the policies, claiming they reflect what the American people want: a secure border.

As Trump prepares to take office again, immigrant families are bracing for potential deportations. Advocacy groups are already stepping in, helping families understand their rights and prepare for any tough times ahead.
