Portrayal of Dr. Willis Duff Green
The Jefferson County Historical Society will present Sid Milliner portrays Dr. Willis Duff Green on Saturday, September 14 at 2:00 p.m. in the Schweinfurth Museum at the Historical Village.
Sid Milliner is a favorite, well-known, former history teacher from Mount Vernon, IL. He will portray Dr. Green, who began practicing medicine in Mount Vernon, IL in 1846. He was known for his generosity in charitable enterprises. He was the president of the Mount Vernon Railroad Company until it merged into the Saint Louis and Southern Railroad. Dr. Green was known as a man of scholarly attainment and a skillful and reliable physician. Sometimes there is a dark side to well-known people and the good doctor was no exception.
