Old Goshen Chapter NSDAR scholarships awarded
The National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) is passionate about educating America’s youth and does so in many ways, including the awarding of scholarships. Over 25 different scholarships are offered by the National Society, and eight $1,000 scholarships are administered through the Illinois State Organization. Old Goshen Trail Chapter Chairman Susan Wurth was successful in bringing two of those eight scholarships to this area.
Recipient Lauren Berry is a 2021 graduate of Mt. Vernon Township High School. She plans to obtain an associate degree from Rend Lake College and then go on to a university to major in business.
Jayla Scott is a graduate of Wayne City High School and Frontier Community College and will be attending Southern Illinois University. In addition, these two plus Honorable Mention Madilyn Berry received chapter honorariums. Lauren and Jayla were honored at a meeting of the Old Goshen Trail Chapter held in the one room school at the Jefferson County Historical Society.
