KC Music Department to Present Winter Instrumental Concert

The Kaskaskia College Music Department will present the Winter Instrumental Concert on Tuesday, February 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the Jane Knight Auditorium. The concert will feature Kaskaskia College Concert and Jazz Bands under the direction of Professor Cliff Jourdan, and The Mardi Gras Brass.
Concert Band Highlights include: “National Emblem” march by E.E. Bagley; “Burn” by Roland Barrett; Frank Ticheli’s “Sun Dance”; “The Rakes of Mallow” from the Irish Suite by Leroy Anderson; and “Goddess of Fire” by Steven Reineke.
Jazz Band Highlights include: “Alamode” by Curtis Fuller; Hoagy Carmichael’s “Georgia On My Mind” featuring Blake Korte on Alto Sax; “Since I Don’t Have You” arranged by John Berry; “Can’t We Be Friends?” arranged by Thad Jones; “920 Special” as played by Count Basie and his Orchestra; and “Rock This Town” by Brian Setzer.
The concert is free and open to the public. A reception for patrons and performers will immediately follow the concert. Reception made possible through the generosity of members of the Jim Beasley Veterans Tribute Committee.
