The Jefferson County Historical Society will present John Lynn, “Freewheeling in Ireland” at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 11 in the Schweinfurth Museum at the Historical Village.

John Lynn of Peoria has photographed all 2400 Illinois cities, villages, and towns. He has also hiked, biked, and canoed enough historic and scenic trails, roads, and rivers in North America and Britain to circle the globe. He has now shared his experiences with over 4000 audiences in three countries.

“Freewheeling in Ireland” is a digital slide presentation of the best of Ireland. Its landscapes, villages, and people will be featured. Lynn experienced it all during an 1100-mile bicycling adventure through the length and breadth of the storied and scenic Emerald Isle. This includes both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

“This program will be a little different from most of our programs which are linked to history. This program is all about the beauty of Ireland, just in time for St. Patrick’s Day. John Lynn is excited to share his journey and photos of one of the most spectacular places on earth,” said Dana Uhls, JCHS Community Relations Specialist.

This program is provided free of charge, but donations are appreciated. The Jefferson County Historical Village is located at 1411 North 27th Street in Mt. Vernon. For more information contact the Historical Society office at 618-246-0033.
