Seventeen members of the Centralia Business & Professional Women attended the IFBWC 101st Annual Convention held at the Thelma Keller Convention Center in Effingham on April 29 & 30. Members who could not attend in person were given the opportunity to join via ZOOM.

At the registration desk, members were given a printed detailed report for review prior to the opening of the business portion of the convention.

State President Carrie Perkins-Schnicker welcomed the attendees and opened the convention with the recitation of the Collect written by Mary Stewart in 1904 and the Pledge of Allegiance by all in attendance. She then introduced the current slate of officers and committee chairs. Past state presidents in attendance were then introduced citing the year they held the office.

The business portion of the convention was then conducted with reading of correspondence, report of voting credentials, presentation of the audit report, bylaw changes, and nomination of 2023-2024 state officers. Open forum was held prior to the first recess.

The meeting resumed with the election of the following officers: President, Natalie Shook; President Elect, Misty Nabors; Recording Secretary, Amanda Burk; Treasurer, Melodie Ainslie. An open forum was again conducted along with presentations from committee chairs.

An honored tradition is the recognition of members who have died during the business year. The membership recognized JoAnn Ruth Sheppard of Edwardsville for her many years of leadership at both the local and state level. The second business session closed and members were able to network with members from other local BPW groups. Following dinner, state members held a murder mystery skit to honor past president Carrie Perkins-Schnicker. Installation of officers and membership representatives was then conducted. A fun evening was then enjoyed by all in attendance.
