2023 Men Cooking for CASA
A Men Cooking for CASA event will be held at the DoubleTree in Mt. Vernon on Saturday, January 21. The emcee this year will be Jason Hulbert.
The event organizers are looking for volunteer chefs. Participants will prepare a dish at home. The categories are appetizers/sides, soups/chilis, main entrees, dessert. Chefs will prepare around 250 sample size servings to dish out at the event (2–3 bite portions). Event organizers will provide chafing dishes for anyone who needs to keep their dish warm, as well as hot boxes to hold any extra food. Crockpots, roasters or anything else requiring power at your station is not permitted. Event organizers will provide plates, flatware, ramekins and napkins as well. All you need to bring is your food and serving utensils.
Can you score a Golden Skillet this year? They will have judges to decide the winners of each food category. The overall winning dish is chosen by the patrons by tipping you at your station. The chef with the most tips for CASA is the Peoples Choice Winner. They also give out a skillet for the best decor — which is optional for each chef to decide on participation.
This is an event for the men to serve their favorite foods to the community in an effort to raise funds for CASA of Jefferson County. There is no entry fee; you only have to purchase your food items. Event organizers do provide tax forms as well if you would like one for your taxes.
Anyone who would like to be a chef this year, please email Stephanie Boczek at email@example.com.
This has always been one of CASA’s most successful events, and they hope this year will be the biggest and best yet. They are also looking for sponsorships and auction items, so if you wish to participate in either of those, please let Stephanie know that as well.
