Patty Brough, Marion County Supervisor of Assessments, announced today that the 2016 homestead renewal form and senior assessment freeze forms have been mailed as of January 13.

Senior citizens who are or will be 65 years of age or older in 2016 and are owners of record, responsible for paying property taxes and occupy the property as their principal residence, are eligible for the homestead exemption regardless of income. This is a $5,000 reduction in assessed value.
Seniors who meet the requirements and have lived at their property as of January 1, 2016 and who have a total household income of $55,000 or less may be eligible for the homestead freeze exemption.
If eligible recipients do not receive a renewal form within the next week, forms may be picked up at the Assessments Office in the Marion County Courthouse, or by calling 548-3853.
New applicants should come to the office to apply.
