SAG Awards 2025: Celebrating the Year’s Top Performers

The nominations for the 31st Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards, set to take place on February 23, have been announced, with the Broadway adaptation “Wicked” leading the film categories with five nods. Hosted by Kristen Bell, the event will stream live on Netflix at 8 p.m. EST/5 p.m. PST.

“Wicked,” a musical featuring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, is among the nominees for the prestigious Best Ensemble Cast in a Motion Picture award, alongside “Emilia Pérez,” the Spanish-language musical crime drama, “Conclave,” “A Complete Unknown,” and “Anora.” Notable individual nominations include Demi Moore (“The Substance”) and Cynthia Erivo (“Wicked”) for Best Actress, while Adrien Brody (“The Brutalist”), Timothée Chalamet (“A Complete Unknown”), and Ralph Fiennes (“Conclave”) are in contention for Best Actor.

In supporting roles, Kieran Culkin (“A Real Pain”) and Zoe Saldaña (“Emilia Pérez”) are strong contenders, with Saldaña joined by Ariana Grande (“Wicked”) and Jamie Lee Curtis (“The Last Showgirl”) in the Best Supporting Actress category. For Best Stunt Ensemble, films like “Deadpool & Wolverine,” “Dune: Part Two,” and “Wicked” made the cut.

Television categories are led by FX’s “Shōgun,” which secured five nominations, including Best Drama Ensemble. Competing alongside “Shōgun” are “Bridgerton,” “The Day of the Jackal,” “The Diplomat,” and “Slow Horses.” In comedy, “The Bear,” “Abbott Elementary,” and “Only Murders in the Building” vie for Best Comedy Ensemble. Individual acting nods include Jeff Bridges (“The Old Man”) and Kathy Bates (“Matlock”) for drama series, while Kristen Bell (“Nobody Wants This”) and Jean Smart (“Hacks”) lead the comedy actress field.

Limited series categories highlight performances by Javier Bardem (“Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story”) and Lily Gladstone (“Under the Bridge”).

The SAG Awards are a key predictor for the Oscars, with significant overlap in acting categories. Last year, SAG and the Academy Awards matched most nominees, highlighting its influence on awards season momentum.
