Melania Trump Documentary to Be Released on Amazon Prime Video
Amazon Prime Video has announced the release of a new documentary focusing on Melania Trump, set to debut later this year. The documentary will offer an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the life and journey of the former first lady, as well as her unique story. Amazon, which holds exclusive licensing rights for both streaming and theatrical release, confirmed that filming began in December 2024. The film is slated to release during the second half of 2025.
Melania Trump will serve as an executive producer on the project, which is directed by Brett Ratner, a filmmaker whose career has been marked by controversy following accusations of sexual misconduct in 2017. Ratner is known for directing films such as Rush Hour and X-Men: The Last Stand. Despite the allegations, Ratner has continued to work in the industry, with this documentary being his first directorial project since the #MeToo movement.
The documentary will be a significant release for Prime Video, offering viewers an intimate look at Melania Trump, who has remained a relatively private figure throughout her husband’s political career. While she has appeared at key events, such as the Republican National Convention and her husband’s campaign launch in 2024, Melania has largely stayed out of the public eye. Her primary focus has been on raising their son, Barron, and promoting her “Be Best” initiative, which aimed to address the social, emotional, and physical health of children.
This documentary adds to the growing relationship between Amazon and President-elect Donald Trump. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, who owns The Washington Post, has had a tense relationship with Trump in the past but has expressed optimism regarding potential regulatory changes in the new administration.
The film also coincides with Melania Trump’s self-titled memoir, which was released in late 2024. As Donald Trump prepares for his second term in office, this documentary is expected to provide more insight into his wife’s life and role as the first lady.
