Mandy Moore’s Emotional Video Captures the Destruction of Her ‘Sweet Home’ by L.A. Fire

Mandy Moore Grapples with Devastating Loss as Los Angeles Wildfires Impact Community

Mandy Moore is facing a heartbreaking loss as she shared the destruction caused by the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles. On the afternoon of Wednesday, Jan. 8, the This Is Us star posted a devastating update about her community in Altadena, located northeast of L.A., revealing the widespread damage.

In an emotional Instagram post, Moore shared a video showing scorched buildings, captioning it, “This is Altadena. Leveled. My sweet home. I am devastated and gutted for those of us who’ve lost so much. I’m absolutely numb.” While it was not confirmed whether her personal home was destroyed, Moore expressed deep sorrow for the entire neighborhood.

Later, Moore provided further details, expressing gratitude for her family’s safety. “Grateful for my family and pets getting out last night before it was too late,” she wrote. “Honestly, I’m in shock and feeling numb for all so many have lost, including my family.” She detailed that her children’s school was destroyed, along with their favorite local restaurants, and mentioned the widespread loss felt by her friends and neighbors. Moore concluded her message with optimism, “Our community is broken but we will be here to rebuild together.”

Earlier in the day, Moore had posted on her Instagram Stories, sharing that she and her family had evacuated but were unsure if their home had survived the fire. “Praying for everyone in our beautiful city,” she wrote, acknowledging the uncertainty and devastation affecting many.

Moore, her husband Taylor Goldsmith, and their young children—August “Gus” Harrison, 3, Oscar “Ozzie” Bennett, 2, and Louise Everett, 3 months—are among the tens of thousands forced to evacuate. Moore had recently completed a six-year renovation of their property and shared frequent updates about the home’s transformation.

The Eaton fire, which began on Jan. 7, had consumed 10,000 acres by the following day. Moore is not alone in her loss, as other celebrities like Spencer Pratt, Heidi Montag, and Cameron Mathison have also reported their homes being destroyed.
