Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt End 8-Year Divorce Battle: Final Settlement Reached

After eight years of legal battles and negotiations, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have reached a final settlement in their highly publicized divorce. The couple, once one of Hollywood’s most adored duos, first began their divorce proceedings in 2016, citing irreconcilable differences. Their relationship was scrutinized for various reasons, including accusations from Jolie of abuse against Pitt and disputes over custody of their six children. Now, their drawn-out legal saga has come to an end with a resolution that addresses their finances, custody arrangements, and their shared assets, most notably their French estate, Chateâu Miraval.

Jolie, who filed for divorce nearly a decade ago, expressed relief upon learning that this chapter was finally closed. Her lawyer, James Simon, mentioned that while the process was exhausting, the actress was relieved to put this part of her life behind her. “Finding peace and healing for their family” was Jolie’s main priority throughout the settlement process.

The road to a conclusion was paved with many challenges, including a custody battle that lingered until 2021 and the contentious dispute over the Miraval estate, which includes a winery where the couple famously tied the knot. Pitt’s legal team accused Jolie of breaking an earlier agreement to sell her stake in the winery, which ultimately ended up in the hands of a Russian-owned company. The couple’s wealth, once estimated at $164 million, was another point of contention, though financial details of their settlement remain private.

Now that the settlement is finalized, both stars can move forward. Jolie continues to focus on her acting career, recently finishing a promotional tour for Maria, while Pitt remains busy with his upcoming film, F1, where he stars as a Formula 1 driver.
