A brutal shooting rampage in the town of Cetinje, Montenegro, has left 12 people dead, including two children, after a violent altercation at a local bar escalated into a tragedy. The gunman, 45-year-old Aco Martinović, killed the bar owner, his children, and members of his own family before fleeing the scene.
The shooting, which began in the late afternoon, saw Martinović return to the bar with a weapon after a brawl broke out. The violence then spread to several locations in the town, leaving a trail of devastation.
Montenegrin authorities swiftly launched an intensive manhunt for Martinović, sealing off roads and deploying special units to search the area. The gunman was eventually cornered by police, but he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound while being transported to the hospital.
Martinović had a history of violent behavior and was known for erratic tendencies, raising concerns about the dangers of unchecked aggression.
The mass shooting has sent shockwaves through Montenegro, with politicians and citizens alike expressing horror at the senseless loss of life. Prime Minister Milojko Spajić called the attack a “terrible tragedy,” while President Jakov Milatović expressed his devastation.
In response to the violence, the government declared three days of national mourning. This tragic event marks the second mass shooting in Cetinje in just three years, prompting urgent calls for stricter gun control measures in the country.
