Las Vegas Cybertruck Explosion: What We Know About Army Vet Matthew Livelsberger

On New Year’s Day, a Tesla Cybertruck exploded outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas, leaving seven injured and causing a significant investigation. The driver, 37-year-old Matthew Livelsberger, was identified as a U.S. Army Green Beret who was on leave from his base in Germany.

Authorities confirmed that Livelsberger died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound before the explosion occurred, raising suspicions of intentional harm. His body was found in the vehicle with two legally purchased firearms.

Livelsberger’s tragic end has sparked a deeper look into his background. A decorated soldier, Livelsberger served multiple tours in Afghanistan and received commendations, including a Bronze Star for valor. Family and friends described him as a patriot, but a dispute over infidelity had led to him leaving his home in Colorado Springs.

Despite being a supporter of President Trump, authorities have not found any clear connection to political motives or the high-profile location of the incident.

Livelsberger rented the Cybertruck in Denver using the Turo app, the same platform used by the suspect in the deadly truck attack in New Orleans. However, investigators have not yet determined if the two incidents are related.

As the investigation unfolds, authorities are working to determine the exact cause of the explosion and the motive behind Livelsberger’s actions. Meanwhile, the FBI continues to probe for potential connections to other similar incidents.
