A 24-year-old man from Houston, Ruben Dario Visquerra Aguilar, is facing even more serious charges after being accused of paying to have a 16-year-old girl from Idaho driven to Texas to meet him.
Aguilar was first arrested back in October for harboring a runaway in Harris County. Along with those charges, he also faced serious allegations in Idaho for first-degree kidnapping and human sex trafficking of a child.
Things took a turn when a medical exam revealed that the teenager, who had run away from home, was pregnant. Now, in Harris County, Aguilar is charged with child trafficking and sexual assault of a child.
According to the Boise Police Department, the girl left home on October 10 after packing a bag and leaving a note. She had been chatting with someone online and decided to run away. Investigators discovered that she traveled through eastern Idaho, made her way to Utah, and finally ended up in Texas.
Aguilar allegedly paid $1,400 to someone to drive the girl to Houston, but the identity of that driver is still unknown. The Boise Police reached out to the Houston Police, sharing Snapchat messages between Aguilar and the teenager, many of which were sexually explicit. Using the information they gathered, police were able to trace Aguilar’s IP address and pinpoint the location where he and the girl were staying.
When Houston Police arrived at the home, they found both Aguilar and the teenager inside. The girl had noticeable hickeys on her neck, and while she confirmed that they were hickeys, she didn’t go into detail about other activities.
During questioning, Aguilar was hesitant to say whether they had any sexual contact, claiming he thought everything was fine because he believed the girl was about to turn 18.After a follow-up medical exam in November back in Idaho, doctors confirmed that the teenager was pregnant.
Currently, Aguilar remains in jail in Ada County, Idaho. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has also stepped in, confirming that Aguilar is a Guatemalan national who entered the country illegally as an unaccompanied minor.
