DAYTON, Ohio — Authorities are currently investigating a case involving two individuals accused of pulling off a fraudulent scheme to take ownership of a house they didn’t own.
The case first came to light back in October 2024 when deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office received a tip about someone trying to claim a home unlawfully. It turned out the original homeowner had been moved to a nursing home, and during that time, Angela Croley and Terry Anderson allegedly swooped in with forged documents to take over the property.
Once they had control of the house, Terry Anderson reportedly tried to sell it multiple times but couldn’t find success. Things took a serious turn when Anderson was charged with several crimes, including forgery, theft from an elderly person, and two counts of tampering with government records. Meanwhile, Angela Croley remains on the run, and a warrant is out for her arrest.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office shared a photo of Anderson, who is now in custody, and they are asking for help locating Croley. If you know anything about where she might be, they encourage you to call the Regional Dispatch Center at 937-225-HELP (4357).
