A car fire near the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas led to the building being evacuated early Wednesday morning as a precaution. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but the incident caused some disruptions in the area. Firefighters are still trying to figure out what started the blaze.
The fire broke out around 8:40 a.m. on Fashion Show Drive, not far from the hotel and the Fashion Show Mall. People nearby said they saw thick smoke and heard a loud explosion. Emergency crews quickly arrived at the scene, and as a safety measure, hotel guests and staff were evacuated.
Even though the fire was put out before it could spread, the scene caused traffic delays and brief closures around the area. Authorities say things might take a little while to fully return to normal, but the good news is that no injuries have been reported. It’s not yet clear if the car was actually on hotel property.
This fire comes just days after a similar incident in Chicago. On December 19, a car caught fire in the parking garage of the Trump International Hotel & Tower there. Firefighters in Chicago were able to handle the situation quickly, and no one was hurt.
For now, Las Vegas officials are continuing their investigation, and more details will likely emerge soon.
