16-Year-Old Suspect Wanted in Deadly North Las Vegas Shooting
North Las Vegas, Nevada – Police have identified a 16-year-old boy as the suspect in a deadly shooting that occurred on Sunday, Dec. 29, at an apartment complex located in the 2900 block of East Centennial Parkway.
According to the North Las Vegas Police Department (NLVPD), officers responded to a call at approximately 9:05 a.m. regarding an illegal shooting. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered an unresponsive man with a gunshot wound to the stomach area. The suspect had fled the scene prior to law enforcement’s arrival. Emergency medical personnel responded, but the victim was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives from the NLVPD quickly took over the investigation. Through their inquiries, investigators learned that the victim and the suspect were acquaintances, and the shooting stemmed from a disagreement between the two.
Authorities have identified the suspect as Arnaz Jones, a 16-year-old male who is considered armed and extremely dangerous. The police are urging the public not to approach Jones but to call 911 immediately if they spot him.
Jones is described as a Black male juvenile with medium-length afro-style black hair, brown eyes, standing at 5 feet 6 inches tall, and weighing approximately 140 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray hoodie sweatshirt with red, black, and white writing on the front and back.
The NLVPD is actively working to locate Jones, and they are encouraging anyone with information regarding his whereabouts or the incident to come forward.
As the investigation continues, authorities are working to gather further details about the shooting and its circumstances. The tragic event has left the local community in shock, and residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement.
