Aly Michalka and Kevin Jonas Reflect on Their Teen Romance and Early Encounters with the Jonas Brothers
A teenage romance between Aly Michalka and Kevin Jonas was never meant to be, as revealed during a recent episode of Call Her Daddy on January 8. The episode featured Aly and her sister AJ Michalka, who shared personal stories about their past relationships, including their interactions with the Jonas Brothers.
AJ Michalka revealed that her first kiss was with Joe Jonas at a bowling alley, recalling the moment as “so innocent.” She and Joe dated for at least a year after meeting when their band opened for the Jonas Brothers in the mid-2000s. AJ, now 33, explained that there was an immediate spark between her and Joe, which led to their romance.
Aly Michalka, 35, shared a different story, discussing her attempts to connect with Kevin Jonas, now 37. While the two were encouraged to pursue a relationship, Aly admitted that there was no romantic chemistry between them. “They were trying to make something happen with me and Kevin,” she said, adding, “it was not really vibing.” She further clarified that her sister, AJ, and Joe had a natural connection, which made sense to her.
Both sisters grew up in an unconventional environment, being homeschooled while touring. AJ shared how their unique childhood experiences shaped their adult lives, allowing them to embrace the touring lifestyle with ease. “We had tours at a really young age,” AJ said, noting how this early exposure helped them connect with fans on a deeper level. Aly added that touring feels very natural to them, as it was a significant part of their upbringing.
Since their Disney Channel days, both Aly and AJ have gone on to lead fulfilling personal lives. Kevin Jonas has been married to Danielle for over 15 years, and they share two daughters. Aly, on the other hand, welcomed her first child, a son named Jack, in June with her husband, Stephen Ringer.
The sisters also recently announced their first album in 14 years, signaling an exciting return to music after a long hiatus.
