Margaret Qualley had an unexpected guest at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday. The rising star, nominated for her role in The Substance, initially planned to bring her husband, musician Jack Antonoff, with her. However, he couldn’t attend because he was sick. Instead, she brought her dad, former model Paul Qualley, who had attended the Globes before, about 20 years ago.
For those who don’t know, Paul Qualley was married to Margaret’s famous mother, actress Andie MacDowell, until 1999. After their separation, MacDowell briefly dated actor Dennis Quaid, who coincidentally stars with Margaret in The Substance.
Margaret, 30, has received nominations for her outstanding performance in The Substance, a comedy about showbiz. She plays a younger version of Demi Moore’s character, Elisabeth Sparkle. The movie is up for five Golden Globe awards, including Best Actress for Moore and Best Director for Coralie Fargeat.
On the red carpet, Margaret looked stunning in a custom Chanel dress. She is also known for her roles in Drive-Away Dolls, Sanctuary, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. In the future, she will star in Happy Gilmore 2, a sequel to the 1996 movie, alongside Adam Sandler and Julie Bowen.
Margaret shared that appearing in Happy Gilmore 2 was a dream come true. “It’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me,” she said. “I begged for the role, even though it’s small.”
At the Golden Globes, she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress, but the award went to Zoe Saldana for her role in Emilia Pérez.
