A wild police chase in Indianapolis early Wednesday morning ended with a dramatic crash and the arrest of two suspects in a stolen car.
It all started when Indiana State Police spotted a stolen vehicle and tried to pull it over. But instead of stopping, the driver hit the gas and took off, leading officers on a high-speed pursuit through the city. Things came to a crashing halt around 3 a.m. near East 21st Street and Wellesley Boulevard when the stolen car collided with another vehicle.
After the crash, two suspects jumped out of the wrecked car and tried to make a run for it, but they didn’t get far. Police quickly caught up with them and took them into custody. Inside the stolen car, officers found some shocking items: a rifle, a pistol with an illegal machine gun conversion device (commonly called a Glock switch), and drugs.
Video from the scene captured the aftermath of the crash. One SUV had its front end smashed in, with airbags deployed, while a second car also suffered heavy damage. A utility pole nearby was also hit and damaged during the crash.
Both suspects and the driver of the other car were taken to local hospitals for treatment. Their conditions haven’t been shared yet. Meanwhile, investigators are still piecing together exactly what happened and sorting through all the evidence.
