“Take Courage” Women’s Conference

The Greater Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with Leadercast — a leadership development company that provides talks from quality speakers electronically — will be hosting a Women’s Conference at Rend Lake College on May 8.

The conference titled ‘Take Courage,’ is meant to embolden attendees to take courage in their daily lives, whether it be in the workplace or at home. The six speakers will share inspirational stories of courage with men and women alike and teach everyone how they can enact change in their lives.
Speakers featured will include Elaine Welteroth, Susan Packard, Frencesca Gino, Captain Deshauna Barber, Laura Ling and Luvvie Ajayi.

Welteroth is an award-winning journalist, author, former Editor-in-Chief of Teen Vogue and has written for the TV show Grown-ish and appeared on ABC News and Netflix. Packard, co-founder of Scripps Networks Interactive — the network syndicate that includes HGTV, Food Network, DIY Network, Cooking Channel, Great American Country and the Travel Channel — helped grow that company’s market value to more than $14 billion.

Gino is an award-winning researcher and teacher and tenured professor at Harvard Business School. She’s been honored as one of the world’s Top 40 Business Professors Under 40 and one of the world’s Top 50 Management Thinkers by Poets & Quants. Captain Barber is a logistics commander in the US Army Reserve, and was the first Miss USA to also be serving in the US military.

Ling is an award-winning journalist and TV and web host. She is the host of Conquered on Z Living Network and the director of development for Discovery Digital Networks. Ajayi is an award-winning author, speaker and digital strategist. She’s the author of New York Times best-seller I’m Judging You: The Do-Better Manual, and covers pop culture at Awesomely Luvvie.com and on her podcast, Rants and Randomness.

The conference will kickoff at 8:30 a.m. at the Rend Lake College Theater on Friday, May 8. Early-bird registration by April 27 is $65. Late registration will be $75. For more information or to register call 242-5725, or register online at southernillinois.com.
