Gaetti Sports Academy ground breaking
By Tina Suarez-
On Thursday, July 18 at 10:00 a.m., the Gaetti Sports Academy hosted a groundbreaking ceremony at the location of its new building on the grounds of the old Meadow Woods Country Club at 1750 Tee Lane in Centralia. Gary Gaetti, a Centralia native, has been working with his development partners, Meadow Woods Holdings, to design a premier sports development facility in Centralia that will serve the Southern Illinois region. Through the significant assistance from the City of Centralia and recent cooperation from the weather, this project is ready to get started.
Centralia’s Economic Development Director, Rose Aldag-McVey, states, “The City is excited that the first phase of the Meadow Woods Development is beginning construction of this total estimated 4.6 million dollar project.”
In addition to Gary Gaetti, on hand for the event will be fellow professional player Kirk Rueter, Centralia Mayor Herb Williams, Former Mayor Tom Ashby, City Councilmen and City Staff, and Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Marcus Holland. There was a good attendance at the groundbreaking. The estimated completion date of the sports complex is September, 2019.
