Local Boy Competes In Grand National Quarter Midgets Racing

July 24, 2018

Ten-year-old Braxton Davis, son of Ben and Chelsey Davis of Centralia, started driving Quarter Midgets at the age of eight. Last year was his first full year in the Sr. Honda and he finished third in track points. This year he has traveled to Terra Haute, IN and Taylorville, IL to compete in two of the Regina I races. Braxton’s home track is 170 QMA in Greenville, IL where he is running a tight race for first place in track points.

Most recently he competed in a national race, the 2018 Eastern Grands with drivers from all over the United States. Braxton qualified well but still had to race his way in. With only ten cars making the A Main, through his determination he drove his way into the big show. After a big crash and roll over, Braxton knew his car had many issues, but he pushed on to race a few more laps, eventually having to pull off, still finishing seventh in his first national race.

Braxton is sponsored by Travis Etheridge, The Insurance Alliance, Bonnie Cafe — Centralia, IL, Etheridge Painting — Odin, IL, VMS Racing Engines, FMI Racing Parts, and NC Chassis Co.

The Davis racing team competed with over 156 drivers from 11 states at the I-70 Quarter midget race track in Greenville, Illinois between July 8 – 14, with 10-year-old Braxton Davis placing in the Top 10 Sr. Honda with third in points.
