Politically Speaking – October 30, 2018
Seven days out, and my prediction is it will be a blockbuster midterm election. Right now the interest is 65% more than a normal midterm. In Texas alone, one million voters have already cast their votes. That’s a very noticeable difference, and Texas is not alone. Across the United States, 8.156995 million have already voted. This is what voting should look like.
Finally, America is very engaged. Why? In my opinion, there are a lot of reasons. Number one is division. Yes, division. Many are sick of our President being blamed for everything from day one.
No one person can be blamed for — or heal — what we have become as a nation:
• Neighbor is against neighbor.
• Families have been split in two.
• Old friends are no longer speaking because of hateful rhetoric.
• Civil conversation is a thing of the past.
• People are encouraged to get in the face of those that don’t agree with them.
All this didn’t happen in two years.
Then there’s the division of opinion on illegal aliens entering this country, crossing the borders illegally.
A prime example: As I write this column 4,500 plus people (mostly young men) are walking across Mexico, heading for our southern border and planning to enter the U.S. illegally, saying they are seeking asylum. Really?
I find it interesting that anyone could buy into that statement, especially after Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto announced what he called the “You Are At Home” plan, offering shelter, medical attention, schooling and jobs to Central Americans in Chiapas and Oaxaca, two southern Mexican states, if they applied, calling it a first step toward permanent refugee status. Most vowed to continue their trek to cross U.S. borders while some burned our flag, while carrying their homeland flag.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure this one out. Do they want asylum? Then why not take the generous offer from the Mexican President! This should be called an invasion.
While some politicians are criticizing President Trump’s orders to send the military to the border, I applaud him. As President, it’s his responsibility to uphold the law and protect American citizens, and that’s what he’ll do!
What are other divisions? The pure hate right now in New York City. An artist put a sign on trash cans in the streets, calling for the removal of “trash,” and posted pictures of men and women wearing MAGA hats and holding Bibles, working folks, Trump supporters.
For what reason? The haters are out of control. And in my opinion, that’s the biggest reason the November 6 midterm will be a blockbuster, along with the push for socialism.
Hillary Clinton not too long ago told CNN that civility won’t return to politics until Democrats take control of Congress or the Senate. The liberal mob, in her mind, is justified because Republicans think different than Democrats, and that’s just about the biggest sin in the progressive world. She says liberals shouldn’t stop harassing until liberals win. Spoken like a true authoritarian dictator!
So where will this end? I predict the evening of November 6 will be a long night. And in spite of what the left tried to accomplish, I’m hoping people will vote for the return of civility in our country and people will come together with a common goal, whatever that might be.
The last thing I want to do is tell anyone how to vote, but I want to encourage each one of you to exercise your right as American citizens, and that’s the right to VOTE!
