Late last week the President moved the goalpost on the Wall. He wants $5.7 billion for the wall or some kind of barrier, another change, because before it was a wall. The word barrier never came into play.

So with the government shutdown now in its 32nd day and climbing, Trump tried to negotiate. However, even before the President was able to lay out this plan of action publicly, Nancy Pelosi rejected his offering. Could this have ended the government shutdown? Or could it have at least moved toward coming together?

Donald Trump offered a temporary deal for DACA folks (700,000 dreamers who were brought into our country illegally as children) — something the Democrats claimed to want. This deal offered limited DACA protection of three years.

This was a perfect opportunity to move toward the center, save face, and work out a deal. But instead, Pelosi and the Democrat leaders chose to say no thanks.

The reality is no one knows when this shutdown will end. However, let’s be clear, the shutdown is a symptom of much bigger problems:

  1. Hate for Trump by people who have had control way too long;
  2. People who don’t love America and want to change it.

I do believe this unwillingness to come to the table by the Democrats will backfire.
The Democrats need to understand there are 60,000 illegals trying to come into our country monthly. That’s 2,000 a day.
House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-SC) said Sunday morning, “Let’s not hold the American people, especially the federal workers, hostage to these negotiations.”
Really, Mr. Clyburn.

  1. Trump is trying to protect the American people.
  2. Trump tried to come up with a plan to help the Dreamers by moving in the right direction.
  3. Trump has proposed paying the government workers during the shutdown and the Democrats refused that offer.

Another disgusting claim by the Democrats is that anyone that’s for the wall is a racist. Well, guess what, I’m for the wall. And I’m certainly not a racist, and I welcome anyone who wants to come to the U.S. legally.
On to Buzzfeed and their recent fake news story when they reported that the President directed his former attorney Michael Cohen to lie to Congress. Even Mueller came out and said not true, no evidence of that!
To me this says a lot about the willingness of the national liberal media to trash our President and undermine everything he says or does. Not since Lincoln has there been a President so hated!
This should be a wake up call for the American people! Will it be? I don’t think so.
Unfortunately, we aren’t headed in a good direction today. And the liberal media is part of the problem as long as:

  1. The reporters just want to break a story, and it doesn’t matter if it’s fact or fiction;
  2. They would rather report bad news instead of good news.

And the saddest part of all is Trump haters eat it up. I was always taught if you’re not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.
In closing, as of Sunday, January 20, President Donald J. Trump started his third year as President.
And this week we celebrate a great leader’s birthday, Martin Luther King, Jr.
Until next week.
