Politically Speaking – December 18, 2018
The big question today is will there be a government shutdown as President Trump threatened if he doesn’t get funding for the southern border wall? In my opinion, the answer is no. At the last minute there will be a compromise.
Do I think Trump’s wrong? Again, the answer is no! As President, his responsibility is to keep Americans safe. In order to do that, we must build a wall! If watching those caravans going through Mexico didn’t show you that, nothing will. What is ironic is those screaming the loudest about no need for a wall actually have walls around their own property, like Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Barack Obama, and the rest.
However, stepping back, if there is a government shutdown, the average American won’t feel it.
On to the new Acting Chief of Staff. As I predicted last week, it’s Budget Director Mick Mulvaney. Mulvaney falls into the same category as Lindsey Graham. He’s not a yes man, but he’s a very good choice. Some suggest Trump should act as his own Chief of Staff. I say absolutely not!
Moving on, back to the same old, same old: Impeach! Impeach! Impeach!
Again I ask, for what? Do I think the Democrats will make that a priority?
Absolutely! What a shame.
So far there’s been no collusion. There’s been no crime, no hard evidence of any kind. There’s been nothing other than hearsay! At the very most, I would say their only shot is a campaign finance violation.
Looking back, let me remind those looking to impeach that Obama had to pay a big fine for campaign finance violation, yet there was no outcry for impeachment. Oh, how quickly they forget.
The big question now is just how far is Mueller willing to go? How far are the Democrats willing to go?
At this point, instead of investigating a crime or collusion (because there isn’t any), they are investigating the person, that being Donald Trump. What a shame.
If this continues, there could be a huge blowback in 2020. Already I’ve had a number of Democrats saying never again! I’ll never vote for another Democrat.
The final B.S. of last week was when Juan Williams of Fox News said, “The Democrats have been far too docile about the Trump impeachment.”
My comment is, “Juan, you’ve got to be kidding.” Enough said.
So until next week, let me wish each and every one of you a Merry Christmas! My Christmas wish is peace on Earth for all! May God bless each of you and yours.
