Rotary Presents “Service Above Self” Award
The Rotary Club of Mount Vernon presented its annual “Service Above Self” award at a recent ceremony. During the discussion of the award Rotarians Brandon Bullard and Ryan Schmidt reported the club wanted to honor a member of our local law enforcement, fire department or emergency medical services and show how grateful we are for their service. They also stated Rotary decided to dedicate the award to the late Jack Overstreet, a long time Rotarian, who embodied Rotary’s motto, “Service Above Self.” After a review of applicants Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Bullard was asked to introduce the 2019 recipient Lt. Craig Mansker. Sheriff Bullard conveyed that Lt. Mansker has served the Jefferson County Justice Center for the last -15- years and is currently First Lieutenant assigned to the Assistant Jail Administrator position. In this position he has many different duties that go unnoticed by the general public, but are vital to the jail’s day to day operation. Further he said Lt. Mansker is an energetic and dedicated employee who looks for ways to better serve the Sheriff’s office and is certainly deserving of recognition for his level of commitment. The ceremony closed with Lt. Mansker thanking the club for the award.
