Upcoming C.E. Brehm Memorial Library events
The C.E. Brehm Memorial Public Library in Mt. Vernon offers a variety of classes and special presentations. Below are some of their upcoming events.
As you may have heard, the Government wants some people to fill out their Census forms online next year. The library has free computers for public use and free Wi-Fi. Please fill out your census forms. In 2010 there was an undercount that cost the local governments over $7,000,000 and the library more than $90,000.
Black History Month
For Black History Month there will be a drawing for a sling bag containing assorted goodies. Starting February 1, entry forms will be available on both the first and second floors.
Women’s History Month
For Women’s History Month there will be a drawing for a sling bag containing assorted goodies. Starting March 1, entry forms will be available on both the first and second floors.
Mardi Gras at the library
Celebrate Mardi Gras at Brehm Library on Feb. 22, from Noon to 3 p.m. Samples of red beans and rice will be served starting at Noon. Tom Baker’s Mardi Gras Band will play Dixieland jazz starting at 1:30 PM. Dancing is encouraged. Free masks will be available to the first 50 who attend, with free beads until they run out.
Book talk by Jeffrey Van Dusen
A book talk and signing by local author J. Van (Jeffrey Van Dusen) is set for 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 26. Van will talk about his new novel “Not Fit To Teach,” which some compare to a cross between the “Wizard of Oz” and crime novel.
