Tuskegee Airmen Presentation
Tuskegee Airmen Presentation at Mt. Vernon Airport
The Jefferson County Veterans Museum and Hall of Honor are proud to welcome author Dr. David G. Styles in a presentation of his book “The Tuskegee Airmen and Beyond: The Road to Equality”. Dr. Styles is an aviation-automotive historian and former member of the Royal Air Force. He has authored 21 books and won more than 30 international awards. “The Tuskegee Airmen and Beyond” The Road to Equality” features incredible stories of heroism and bravery in the face of racism.
The Tuskegee Airmen was the name given to a group of African-American fighter pilots who started to break down the barrier of racial segregation within the United States military during World War II. While facing adversity just to achieve the right to fight for their country, they served with distinction and earned a ferocious reputation among both Allied and enemy airmen.
The presentation will be held at the Mt. Vernon Airport terminal lobby on Sunday, January 19th, starting at 2:30 p.m. There will be books available for signing after the event. Chicago “DODO” chapter members may be in attendance, weather permitting. Admission is free
