Relay For Life of Marion County Salem Set to kickoff Fundraising Efforts for 2014

On January 28th at 6:00 pm, the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Marion County Salem will officially get underway as event volunteers and participants gather at First Christian Church for a Chili Cook-off Kick Off Rally to launch their fundraising efforts for the year. Teams will be providing their favorite chili recipes and samples will be available to be voted on. At Kick Off, Teams can register for the 2014 Relay For Life, and Survivor Registration will also be available.

Although the Relay For Life of Marion County Salem is more than 5 months away, now is the time to get involved. One in every 100 Americans participates in this fundraising event that has become a global phenomenon. Residents are invited to attend the Kick Off Celebration to learn more about the upcoming event and how they can become part of an exciting overnight event that will pave the way to a world with less cancer and more birthdays.

Relay For Life participants and visitors have a chance to celebrate the victory of local cancer survivors during the Survivors Lap; remember those who are fighting cancer or those who have lost their battle to the disease during the Luminaria Ceremony; and participate in the Fight Back Ceremony, which gives everyone a chance to proclaim his or her own way of taking action against the disease.

Donations can be made to this local Relay For Life event by visiting RelayForLife.org/MarionSalemIL. Community members also can start or join a team by following the links on that same website.

The 2014 Relay For Life of Marion County Salem will take place on June 28th at Salem Community High School beginning at 6pm. For more information about the Kick Off Event or on how you can get involved, contact Kelly at 618.204.9533 or kel1010@hotmail.com
