Notice is hereby given that the Office of City Clerk, Local Election Authority for the City of Centralia located at 101 S. Locust, Centralia, Illinois, will be accepting Candidate Petitions for the 2021 Consolidated Election to be held on April 6, 2021 (or the Primary Election on February 23, 2021, if necessary) for the following offices:
Mayor – 2-year term unexpired term
Council Member – 4-year term
Council Member – 4 year term
The filing period is from November 16, 2020 – November 23, 2020. Nominating petitions will be accepted during the normal office hours of 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on the dates of November 16th – November 20th, as well as on November 23rd, the last day of filing, from 7:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
A lottery will be held on December 1, 2020, for all simultaneous filings that are filed at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, November 16, 2020, or that are received in the first mail of Monday, November 16, 2020. Additionally, petitions that are filed between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on November 23, 2020 will be deemed simultaneously filed in accordance with 10 ILCS 5/7-12(6). A lottery for those petitions filed in the last hour will also be held to determine the final ballot placement. Both lotteries will take place on December 1, 2020 at City Hall in the Council Chambers beginning at 11:00 a.m. The lotteries are open to the public.
