Planning and Zoning hearing planned

MT. VERNON — The Mt. Vernon Planning and Zoning Commission will meet at 7 p.m. on Jan. 14 to consider two requests to place manufactured homes and a request to reduce a backyard setback.
Joe D. Buchanan has requested a zoning change to properties at 2944 S. 13th St.; and at 1706 and 1708 S. 14th St. from R2 medium density residential to RM2 medium density residential and manufactured home. Buchanan filed both requests on Dec. 17, 2018.
Nathan Scott has requested a backyard setback variance from 35 foot to 2 foot at his home at 403 Jay Dr., which will be considered by the Commission.
Scott will be placing a storage building on the property and has requested the setback reduction due to limited space behind the home. Additionally, application information states the setback is in keeping with similar variances approved in the neighborhood allowing for storage buildings close to the property lines.
The Planning and Zoning Commission meets 7 p.m. the second Monday of each month on the second floor of Mt. Vernon City Hall.
