Memorial Ride Sponsored By Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association
On July 28, the parking lot of Roadhouse Harley-Davidson in Mt. Vernon was filled with those who had gathered to show support to the family of the late SSG Shawn R. Holbrook through a Memorial Ride in his name. Holbrook, who served in the USA 160th Soar Night Stalkers, had suffered from PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome), which led to his death.
The ride was sponsored by Chapter 24-5 of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, whose mission is to support and defend those who have defended our country. “Through awareness campaigns like this, we can help reduce the number of veterans’ suicides from the effects of PTSD,” stated Media Relations Officer David “Bandit” Hess. The Memorial Ride included six presentations and rallies between Mt. Vernon and Anna; all proceeds go to the Marion VA Substance Abuse/PTSD Awareness Programs.
