Marine Corps Ball Planned
MT. VERNON — The 243rd Marine Corps Ball will be held Nov. 17 at the Double Tree by Hilton.
The theme of the event is “Once a Marine, Always A Marine.” The Ball commemorates the birthday of the Marine Corps, which is a tradition that began under Gen. John A. Lejeune, the 13th Commandant of the Marine Corps. It is one of the most honored and largest events on the Marine Corps calendar as a formal affair for both Marines and guests.
The celebration will be open to all service branches and their families. A social hour will be held starting at 6 p.m. A ceremony will be held at 7 p.m., followed by dinner and music.
Live entertainment will be provided by the band, Don’t Mind Us. Raffles will be held throughout the evening. The guest speaker is Steve Bost.
The dress code is military uniforms or formal and semi-formal civilian attire.
Tickets are $25 each and may be purchased by calling Curtis Meadows at 231-6868, John Kowalski at 214-0692 or the American Legion Post 141 at 242-4561. Tickets, ad sales, attendance and donations allow organizers to continue the Marine Corps Ball tradition and plan future events.
