Library Announces New Programs
The Centralia Regional Library District and the Centralia Recreation Complex are working together on a new program called Check Out the Rec. Check Out the Rec will enable library card holders to attend one day of a class at the recreation complex free of charge. First, card holders will come into the library to check out a class pass, which they will then take to the recreation complex to gain access to a class. The library will have more information available as to the specific classes and any other stipulations that might apply.
Library card holders also have access to a new online database called Creativebug! Creativebug has more than 1,000 art & craft video classes taught by recognized design experts and artists; and can be accessed through the library’s website using a Centralia library card. Creativebug is currently the number one inspirational resource for DIY, crafters and makers and can be found at www.centralialibrary.org on the Services tab under online resources.
Mad Science, out of St. Louis, will be at the library on July 18 at 6:00 p.m. in the Monken Activity Room. Doors will open at 5:30. This program is for all ages and focuses on the science of sound. There will be exciting demonstrations and experiments including the surprisingly loud Dinosaur-in-a-Can, the glowing Electric Pickle, and a kid-created Thunder Storm!
More information on upcoming programs and events can be found on the library’s website or Facebook page; or by calling 532-5222.
