KC to Host Enduring Freedom Celebration
Kaskaskia College is pleased to host its 17th annual “Enduring Freedom” Veterans Day Celebration on Wednesday, November 14 on KC’s main campus. Kaskaskia College is proud to honor the service of those men and women who have given their time and energy in the service of our country.
The morning will feature a free biscuits and gravy breakfast in the College’s Student Center from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. for veterans and their guests.
A special program will be held in the Jane Knight Auditorium starting at 9:45 a.m. that is open to the students and the public. This year’s program will focus on the Purple Heart, the military decoration awarded in the name of the president to those service members wounded or killed while serving the country. Local Purple Heart recipients Mike Draege of Centralia, who received his award during the Vietnam War, and Dennis Alexander Pracht of Centralia will be among those speaking about their experiences during a panel discussion. The morning will also feature the presentation of colors by the Beckemeyer American Legion Post #1227, and the performance of the military service songs by the KC Blues under the direction of Lynda Marshall, Assistant Professor of Choral Music.
The program is free and open to the public and for more information please call Travis Henson, KC Director of Marketing at 618-545-3177, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
