John And Ann Howard To Be Grand Marshals For Fall Fest Parade
John and Ann Howard will lead the Crossroads Community Hospital Parade as Grand Marshals at the 2018 Mt. Vernon Fall Fest presented by Continental Tire. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 29th and celebrate Illinois’ Bicentennial with the theme “Illinois Proud: Celebrating 200 Years!”
Howard has been a dedicated member of the Jefferson County Historical Society since the late 1970s and is sometimes referred to as a “walking history book.” He has volunteered, served on the board of directors, and acted as president. He was entered into the JCHS hall of fame in 2012 and received the Illinois Association of Museums Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016. Howard served as a City Councilman from 1997-2007, acted as the previous Jefferson County Red Cross director, and United Way director. He has held many other positions and awards within the community and served as an active member of Mt. Vernon Rotary International, Mt. Vernon City Schools District 80 Board of Education, and other groups and organizations. Ann Howard was a loyal Rotarian and spent many days volunteering in the community. Fall Fest presented by Continental Tire is excited to honor John and Ann Howard at the 2018 Crossroads Community Hospital Parade.
