Jefferson County Relay For Life
Jefferson County Relay for Life was held from 4 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 9 in the Rolland Lewis Building at Veterans Memorial Park in Mt. Vernon. Normally held outside, the event was moved indoors due to bad weather. A walking track was set up inside as well as the various fund raising teams.
The event began with prayer, the color guard, and a survivor/caregiver lap and moved on to a luminaria ceremony before the closing ceremonies, with lots of fun in between. The fun included a balloon shave, karaoke, a frozen tee shirt contest, tae kwon do demonstrations, dancing, music and raffles.
Relay for Life organizers wish to thank all participants, donors, and teams and said without them this event would not be possible.
