Hillcrest Memorial Park/VFW of Centralia Memorial Service
A well attended Memorial Day service was held at the VFW in Centralia on Monday, May 27 sponsored by Hillcrest Memorial Park at 11:00 a.m. It started with posting of the colors by the honor guard detail. The national anthem, “God Bless America” and the Lord’s Prayer were sung by Ian Presswood of Centralia. The pledge of allegiance was led by Cub Scout Packs 260 and 446 and Boy Scout Troop 260.
Opening prayer as well as the benediction was given by Chaplain Wayne Sensel. Opening remarks were given by VFW Commander Mike Draege.
The welcome was given by Mike Sutherland of Hillcrest Memorial Park and Sutherland GArnier Funeral Home and Crematory. keynote speaker was lt. Col. Ted Johnson, U.S. Army, rtired. “Echo Taps” was performed by Don Beaty and Mikayla Ruot.
