Happy Hearts Quilt Guild Happy To Be Scrappy Quilt Show
The Happy Hearts Quilt Guild will hold their “Happy To Be Scrappy” Quilt Show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Salem Community Center, located at 416 E. Oglesby in Salem, IL. Cost is $3 for adults, under 12 free.
Nearly twenty years ago a group of men and women who had a passion for quilting established a group that would meet once a month to share, support, and encourage the appreciation, development, and process of quilting. Twenty years and still continuing, this group meets once a month to share in the love of quilts and quilt-making. The group consists of individuals of every skill level: those who just admire quilts, beginners, experts, and those in between.
Throughout the year, the group hosts numerous opportunities to be involved with quilting. These include: seminars, workshops, community service projects, sewing sessions, retreat opportunities, small group opportunities, and more. They are continuing to look for areas and chances to get together to share and learn about their passion — quilting!
A standing tradition is to host a quilt show each year. The show not only displays over 200 quilts each year, they also have both quilting and non-quilting vendors, demonstrations, bed turnings, and a drawing for a quilt at the end of the show. They also have quilt appraisals and scissor sharpening available. Food and drinks will be available at the show as well.
