CRC holds Drug Awareness Day
The Community Resource Center held a Drug Awareness Day on August 29 at the Fairview Park CN Pavilion in Centralia. About 200 people attended the event.
Centralia Police Lieutenant Greg Dodson discussed how the use of Narcan has reduced the number of overdose deaths, but there are still a significant number of drug overdoses.
Dustin Kiblir from Chestnut Health Systems was one of the guest speakers. He gave his testimony and talked about his medical-assisted treatment and his 12 step program.
Joanie Naraghi from SSM was the other guest speaker. She spoke on grief and grief support. Her message was to family members about how they are not responsible for their loved one’s death and they should not blame themselves.
The CRC had many resource tables with information on NA and AA meetings and resources in the community.
The Hidden in Plain Site Room was facilitated by Bryan Kuder and Chris Marler. Participants could go through a guided tour or take a self tour, trying to identify alcohol and drug related items.
Jamie Nattier provided music throughout the event. A butterfly release and a memorial walk concluded the evening.
Organizations and schools that wish to schedule a Drug Awareness Day just need to contact the Community Resource Center at 618-533-1391.
