July 10, 2018

The guest speaker at a recent SINA meeting was Vickie Edwards. Vickie is an animal lover who spoke about the new Centralia Dog Park. She is the co-chairperson of the Dog Park fund-raising group. She stressed the group is working very hard to make the dog park unique and beautiful.

The dog park will be located in the northwest corner of the old Evers Field at 6th and Melrose, The City has taken the responsibility for the fencing, water supply, dog waste cans, and a gravel parking lot. The park will have two sides, one for small dogs, and the other for large dogs, separated by two runs.

Ms. Edwards informed the SINA group the work has already begun.

The committee’s goal is to raise $10,000 for dog park extras like benches, stationery dog toys, etc.

She continued to say, “The major fundraiser event is a Quarter Auction that will be held on Sunday, July 22, start time 1:30 p.m., at VFW at 1826 Pine St. The VFW has graciously donated the hall for the day. We have had so many very generous donors. We have two sets of Cardinals tickets — four seats each, and one includes parking. We have four tickets to Holiday World. We have tickets to St. Louis Magic House. We have wonderful gift certificates from local businesses for dining, entertainment, automobile products, several themed baskets, dog grooming, human hair products and services, and homemade quilts. We have eight to twelve vendors that will be present for auction. We have 50 / 50 tickets the committee members are selling and tickets will be for sale the day of the auction.”
