A fundraiser “Save the Caboose” was held on Saturday, July 14 at the Centralia Area Historical Museum, 240 S. Locust, where the BN Caboose resides. The evening of dining and entertainment was chaired and emceed by Eleanor McKay, who for years has been a very knowledgeable guide at the Museum.

During the evening, the guests enjoyed the company of “Johnny Cash” and “Phyllis Diller,” in addition to other musical groups.

Special recognition was given to Former Museum Director Becky Ault by McKay and Allison Austin, the current director, for Ault’s years with the Museum.

In addition, Peggy Jones, Museum archivist and organizer of the Dr. George Ross’ library room, received special thanks for all her efforts through the years in making the history of the Centralia area more available to all. Recently Museum President Mike Musick said, “We are very close to reaching our goal to ‘save the caboose,’ but additional donations will help the effort.” Please call 618-545-0657 if you would like to make a donation.
