Centralia field officers graduation
The Centralia Police Department is proud to announce that on November 8, 2019 Myles Niedbalski, Stephen Perry and William Temple graduated from the Southwestern Illinois College Police Academy.
All three probationary officers will now begin a 12 week Field Training Program where they are paired with a Field Training Officer. A Field Training Officer (FTO) is an experienced or senior member of the organization who is responsible for the training and evaluation of the probationary officer. The purpose of the Field Training and Evaluation Program is to train new officers so that each is prepared to function as a solo beat officer at the conclusion of their training cycle. The FTO is usually a senior officer within the department that has been trained in the Field Training Program. The FTO’s duties consist of training and evaluating the trainee. He is responsible for explaining policy and procedure. He provides orientation to the trainee within their jurisdiction. He encourages self-initiated activity as well as good driving habits.
The Centralia Police Department is very proud to have these three officers take the next step in this process toward becoming valuable members of the department where they will strive to provide the best possible service to the members of the Centralia community.
