BCMW Head Start family book walk
BCMW held a Family Book Walk evening on Tuesday, March 5 from 5:30 to 7:00 at The Rock Church in Centralia.
Families arrived at the church and were registered for the evening. The children played in the gym before the program began
The evening began with the children having a Clifford the Red Dog story read to them by Rita Lewis, children’s librarian at Centralia Regional Library. After the story was finished, each child got a coloring page and a pencil from Ms. Rita. The parents got a growth chart as well as a patron application for the library.
The families were then invited to come to the color book walk. The children chose to stand on their favorite color square. The color wheel was spun and when the wheel stopped, the children on that color got to go choose a book to take home with them. They all enjoyed this activity.
The next part of the evening was to personally meet the Cat In The Hat and have their pictures taken with him in the Cat In The Hat photo booth. The children were very excited to talk to him.
At the end of the program, the children and their families enjoyed a light dinner of a taco bar.
Book Walks are also scheduled in Salem, Breese, and Franklin County centers during the month of March.
